![]() The Secretary of the Navy, on July 5, 1923, directed that the Navy Filing Manual as compiled by the Board appointed for the purpose be adopted for use and placed in effect throughout the entire Naval Service with the exception of the United States Marine Corps. Here's a review that contains the speakers you're asking about. Just to follow up, I will ask my rep Monday to make sure I'm 100% correct (which I believe I am). This is the way it was explained to me by Canton's tech support a few months ago. The LE stuff is great too, but the new GLE is just different. To its credit, Simple Minds has a unique sound no matter who among the many credited keyboardists is actually playing a given part, it can’t be mistaken for the product of any other band (with the exception of the last track, Vince Clarke’s “The Floating World,” whose galloping rhythm nods obviously toward Erasure).īasically the much more expensive older Ergo but without the real wood cabinet. With unmemorable material and the vocals of Jim Kerr showing little interpretive or technical advancement, each track hangs heavily on the keyboards, which become so dominant that some guitar parts merely imitate electronic effects the tremolo strings on “Sleeping Girl” may as well come from a sample loop. You are getting very very nice components in the GLE series.īut when sheen takes precedence over substance, and particularly when that sheen has gleamed for nearly 30 years, that says something about what’s been missing from the hearts of Simple Minds. My understanding with the GLE is that they took the components that essentially made up the much more expensive Ergo line (before they changed it & put the drivers of the other speakers in it) & put them into a different, less expensive, finished cabinet. There are sonic differences, to be sure, but what you now have is a very cohesive brand that, depending on variables (room size, accoustic treatments, electronics, etc.),can give a consistantly great sound. Essentially all of their speakers use the same tweeters, mids, & woofers. ![]() They've taken the approach to voice match their lines as close as possible with major differences being cabinet construction, cosmetics, color choices, etc. The older LE had different, proprietary, drivers and was voiced differently from the rest of the line (as were ALL of their speaker lines). B&W's construction quality is the only thing comparable. Long Answer: The LE series was a very nice, well built product (my opinion: Canton builds the best made speakers in the world. I'm a Canton dealer & think I can help you. Token crossover points are 3200 and at 300 Hz. ![]() Very the LE109 is an actual three way loudspeaker. The LE collection is ranges in the little LE101 bookshelf speaker, and Canton's latest at $649 under review to the version, the LE109 at $1899. ![]()
